Sebastian and Henrik seems to sleep alot...

The work continues to get Vilda ready for race!

In the previous weekend the work on Vilda proceeded. Sebastian started to install the new hydraulic steering system. We use crimped stainless steel couplings together with a high quality hydraulic hose. In the upcoming easter weekend, we will mount the more interesting and innovative parts of the steering system.

Mikko and Henrik took on the work with the fuel system. The tanks were emptied and cleaned. The old fuel hoses with it´s bad quality couplings where put into the recycling bin.

The engine that doesn't exist, D6-435-DPR

When we decided what engine to use in the boat, we picked one that doesen´t exist. Volvo Penta´s D6-435 with the DPR drive. We kept the drives mounted on the D6-350 engines. Two extra drives we bought as spares for the race.

Mounting the engine to the drive was really easy, but a "minor" problem was discovered when we tried to mount the engine in the engine room. It didn´t fit! On the D6-435 there is a much larger turbo then on the D6-350, the turbo pipe ended up on the wrong side of the transom.

How to solve this "minor" problem? Switch to a smaller turbo? No, you just cut a hole in the transom so it fits!

New engines!

The two interesting boxes have arrived. They contained two Volvo Penta D6-435. We hope that they should be capable to move the boat faster then before. But there have to be some modifications to be able to mount the engines. More information will be posted later on.

There has also arrived some specially made parts for the drive. With these parts, furter extension of the drive can be made. The drive shields has got a new coat of epoxi paint, that matches the new paint on the transom.

Even boats can get a flat!

The tubes on the boat had a minor leakage, that was discovered during a pressure test . We have repaired the damage, and the only thing that's missing on the tubes is some new stickers.
